How to add Lessons/Assessments to the Assignment Calendar

Assigning lessons in Ogment is easy. You can assign lessons and assessments to your entire class, groups, or individuals.

You can also assign differentiated instruction versions of your lessons.

  1. To create an assignment, click the calendar icon from the left side navigation bar in Ogment:
You will see your classes listed on the page:

  2. Choose the class you where you wish to make the assignment and click the > next to the class name to open your class. In this example, we’re making an assignment to Grade1 - ELA. The Calendar opens to the current week with the current day highlighted in a blue circle. You can navigate the calendar by using the arrows at the top right to move to the week ahead or the week past.

  3. To make an assignment, click +ADD on the day you want the assignment to be available. This will launch a page where you can pick the assignment (lesson, assessment or course) you want to add from your My Stuff. You can narrow your options by using the panel the right. Search by Resource Type, Tags, Grade Level and Subject. You can page through your My Stuff content by using the page navigation at the bottom.

  4. Choose the lesson, assessment or course you wish to assign by highlighting the check box in the item to select it and clicking the “Next” button at the top right of the page:
Next you will choose who you are assigning to. You can choose the entire class, particular groups, or individuals.
  5. To choose the entire class, click on the check mark in the center of your item to assign to highlight, select entire class at right, then click the assign button at the top.

  6. If you need to learn how to create groups in your classes, see How to Create Groups.
  7. To assign to individuals, select the lesson by highlighting the check in the middle of the item and click on individuals. Your class roster will appear below, choose the student or students you wish to assign to, then click Assign at top right:
  8. After clicking assign, you will be returned to your assignment calendar. You will see the assignment you’ve made under the date to which you’ve assigned. In this example we have assigned Analyzing Poetry to the Entire Class on Friday the 8th of July.

Each assignment on your calendar will have the information on the card about who you’ve made the assignment to. On the top half of the card you will see who the assignment is for - entire class, group name or individual name. If the item has differentiated versions, you will see the version assigned under who the assignment is for. If the lesson has no differentiations, you will see “primary reason.”
