After you have created a course, you’re now ready to align lessons and assessments to a Curriculum Map. This will allow you to show how your lessons and assessments fulfill the requirements of the Curriculum Map. Once you have added lessons and assessments (or “placeholder” lessons and assessments) to your Course and chosen the Curriculum Map(s) you would like to work with, you can begin aligning.
Aligning Lessons/Assessments in a Course to items in your Curriculum Map
Open up the course you would like to work with, and choose a lesson or assessment within that course that you’d like to align to a Curriculum Map.
Next to the lesson you would like to align, there is a icon. When you click on that icon, you’ll get a menu with many options to choose from. Choose the Align option, which is the first item in the list.
You will be brought to the alignment page. If you haven’t done so already, click on Available Curriculum Maps on the left hand side of the screen. Now you can add one or more Curriculum Maps by clicking on +Add Curriculum Map, which will take you to a page that includes all of the Curriculum Maps your curriculum team has made available. Click on the checkmarks on the cards of the Curriculum Map(s) you want to add (checkmarks will turn green), then press the Add button in the top right hand corner.
The Curriculum Map(s) you chose will show up in the column on the left side of the screen. This Curriculum Map will now be available for aligning for the entire course.
Click on view under the Curriculum Map to open it up to align to the lesson.
To align the curriculum elements you want to the lesson you have chosen, simply drag them over to the alignment box under the green header bar on the right side of the screen.
Continue to drag and drop until all of the elements you want from the Curriculum Map are over in the box. Notice that there are green numbers beside the curriculum elements you have chosen to align. This number indicates how many times an element has been aligned in the course.
If you mistakenly bring over the wrong element, click on the and choose Remove Alignment option in the box.
When you’re finished, click on <back to course in the top right hand corner of the screen. This will bring you back to the Course Builder screen. Your lesson/assessment will have a green checkmark next to it to show that it has been aligned, and you can then choose another lesson or assessment to align if you’d like.
