How to modify assignments

It’s very simple to modify assignments in Ogment. If you’ve created an assignment to students in Ogment, you may need to move the assignment date or extend the assignment across days.  In some instances you may need to remove the assignment completely.

  1. To edit an existing assignment, click the calendar icon from the left side navigation bar in Ogment:
You will see your classes listed on the page:

  2. Choose the class in which you wish to edit the assignment and click the > next to the class name to open your class and find the assignment. In this example, we’re going to edit the assignment to Grade1 - ELA scheduled for Wednesday, July 13.

The Assignment Calendar opens to the current week with the current day highlighted in a blue circle.
You can navigate the calendar by using the arrows at the top right to move to the week ahead or the week past.

  3. To edit an assignment, locate the day and the assignment to edit. Click on the assignment card to get a list of options.  Choose the first item in the drop down list: “Edit Assignment Information.”

  4. The screen where you have options to edit the assignment opens. On this screen you have the option to:

    Keep on (default), which keeps the assignment assigned to the original day it was assigned;
Move to, which moves the assignment to another day; or
Extend to, which extends the assignment across days.

  5. Keep On: If you choose “Keep on” and then click “assign” in the top right, the assignment will not change.  Clicking “cancel” at the top right will also keep your assignment on its original day. You cannot change the student or group that receives the assignment.  To do this you must remove your assignment if appropriate and create a new one.

  6. Move to: If you chose “Move to” and then click the calendar button to the right of the date, a calendar will launch and you can choose the new date for the assignment.
Click the calendar icon to the right of the date to find the date you wish to move the assignment to. We’re moving this assignment from Wednesday, July 13th to Friday, July 15th.
Click the “assign” button at the top right.  You will return to the calendar and your assignment will now be on the new date you have assigned. The assignment has moved to the new date. In our example, that’s from Wednesday the 13th to Friday the 15th.

  7. Sometimes you may need to extend an assignment and allow for that assignment to be available on multiple days across the calendar.

Extend to: If you chose “Extend to” and then click the calendar button to the right of the date, a calendar will launch and you can choose the an additional date for the assignment.
Click the calendar icon to the right of the date to select the extension date.  We’re extending this assignment across Wednesday, July 13th to Friday, July 15th

Click the “assign” button at the top right.  You will return to the calendar and your assignment will be extended to the date you have chosen.
To extend an assignment across more days, repeat this process.  If you wish to work on this assignment every other day, or perhaps every Friday, you can do this as well by following the “Extend to” steps above.  The extension will only appear on the specific day you choose, repeat the process to get the assignment to appear on multiple days.

How to Edit a Differentiated Instruction Assignment

You can edit your differentiated instruction (DI) assignments the same way you modify regular assignments.

  5. Keep On: If you choose “Keep on” and then click “assign” in the top right, the assignment will not change.  Clicking “cancel” at the top right will also keep your assignment on its original day.

However, with a lesson that has differentiated versions, you can change the version that has been assigned.  For example, Perhaps you think this Beginner DI Track is too simple for your beginner group and you want to change the lesson to the Primary Version.  Highlight the check mark on the Primary Version DI card, make sure Keep on is selected at the right and click the “assign” button at the top right.

The Primary Version is now assigned to the beginner group. You cannot change the student or group that receives the assignment.  To do that you must remove your assignment if appropriate and create a new one.  The Beginner DI that was assigned to the Beginner group has been changed to the Primary Reason DI.
  6. Move to: If you chose “Move to” and then click the calendar button to the right of the date, a calendar will launch and you can choose the new date for the assignment. You can also change the DI version you’re assigning as explained in #5. (anchor Link?)  Select “Move to” to move an assignment from one date to another.
